Overview

MKT VLU ("we", "our", "us") is an independent pricing tool that helps you determine the fair market value of used goods. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account information — When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive:

• Your name and email address
• Profile photo URL (if available)
• A unique identifier from your sign-in provider

Photos you scan — When you photograph or upload an item for valuation, the image is sent to our server for identification. Images are not stored. They are processed in real time and immediately discarded.

Valuation data — We log search queries, identified products, and pricing results to improve our pricing engine. These logs do not contain your personal information or images.

Location (optional) — If you grant location permission, we use your approximate location to tailor pricing to your region. Your coordinates are not stored beyond the single request.

Local storage — Your scan history, saved items, and preferences are stored locally on your device using browser storage. We do not have access to this data.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Authentication: To create and manage your account, and to sync your preferences across devices.
• Valuations: To identify items, search marketplaces, and calculate fair market prices.
• Price alerts: To notify you when a watched item reaches your target price.
• Service improvement: Aggregated, anonymized valuation data helps us improve pricing accuracy.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to provide our functionality:

• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — for authentication only. We receive only the data listed above.
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — to identify items from photos. Images are sent to their API and processed per their privacy policy.
• SerpAPI / eBay API — to search marketplace listings. Only product queries are sent; no personal data is shared.
• Neon (PostgreSQL) — to store account and pricing data securely.
• Netlify — hosts our app and serverless functions.

We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no cookies, pixels, or fingerprinting.

4. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
• Session tokens: Expire after 30 days.
• Valuation logs: Retained to improve pricing; contain no personal data.
• Images: Never stored. Processed in real time and discarded.
• Rate limiting: Your IP address is temporarily used for rate limiting and is not persistently logged.

5. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are signed with HMAC. We enforce strict Content Security Policy headers, and admin endpoints require token-based authorization.

6. Your Rights

You may:

• Sign out and revoke access at any time from the Profile screen.
• Clear your local scan history by clearing your browser's site data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
• Deny location and camera permissions without affecting core functionality.

7. Children's Privacy

MKT VLU is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
